Chief Appraiser Best Practices: This 4-hour session is a panel discussion of various review appraisers from multiple disciplines and backgrounds. The forum will investigate and discuss appraisal issues from the perspective of the review-appraiser panel by answering questions and issues provided by the moderators, NAIFA membership, and audience.

Panelists: Tami Bellisario, IFA, Mark Chapin, IFA, Richard Gilmore, Tom Kneesel, Bradford Lambeau, IFA, Rachel Massey, Tom Munizzo, IFA, and Martin Wagar, IFAS

Development of a Metropolis: This 4-hour course is a comprehensive presentation of Urban Land Use with the application of Appraisal Economic Theory concerning the building of America, specifically the “great metropolis” using Chicago as the focus. The journey begins on an empty plain and investigates the economic forces that had to come together in a coordinated and predictable manner to create one of America’s greatest metropolises. The course illustrates first-hand how theory and practice repeat themselves in a predictable manner that should lead the real estate valuation professional to sharpen their ability to predict the likelihood of future developments and endeavors and their effects in their own market.

Presenter: Mark Munizzo, IFAS

Liability and Mock Trial: This 7-hour course has been cooperatively written by a National USPAP Instructor and a state prosecuting attorney specializing in appraiser liability cases. This course covers appraisers' liability issues and has at its base the language of USPAP-related issues, and “common practices” requirements applied to legal doctrines and cases governing such liabilities. It is comprehensive in scope and uses actual cases to illustrate how appraisers have been prosecuted or exonerated, focusing on the issues that were or were not taken and the protections that the students should take in their everyday practice moving forward.

Panelists: Craig Capilla, Mark Chapin, IFA, Jeff Lagrew, Tom Munizzo, IFA, T.J. McCarthy, IFA, and Barry Shea, IFA
